Elementary School Technology and Learning Innovation Program
To build our professional learning community ensuring the support and enhancement of teaching and learning @FDR and the incubation and development of innovative tools & practices which contribute to the school's mission.
The Elementary School has a strong technology and learning innovation integration program always with student learning at the core of its philosophy. It strives to engage students in their learning process and to enhance those learning experiences through the use of a variety of technologies (computers, programming robots, maker gadgets, etc.) while developing creativity, communication, collaboration and critical thinking skills in all students.
As a result of careful planning and professional development with all subject area teachers, all students in a grade level develop age-appropriate technology skills following the ISTE Standards:
The continuing development of teachers’ personal technology skills is key to achieving a technology-rich learning environment. The Learning Innovation Coaches support teachers to become independent integrators. There are many opportunities for teachers to develop these skills throughout the school year and training takes place in various formats.
STUDENT TECH CONDORS
Every classroom identifies two students as Tech Condors twice a semester. The "Tech Condors" are a team of students from G1 to G5 who take the responsibility to care and maintain the technology in their classrooms. They receive additional training on specific skills and have a role as "experts" in their classrooms helping peers and teachers.
Digital Citizenship Agreements (DCA)
The DCA helps all students to be safe, respectful and responsible users of technology at school and at home.
